What I Packed In My Hospital Bag (Twin Pregnancy)

I am 34 weeks along with our sweet twins and the babies could be here any day. No matter what, at 38 weeks we will be inducing labor or doing a c-section (if they are not here yet!) so that’s just four weeks away. I feel like it is way past time to get a hospital bag ready! A few differences between this hospital bag and my last one… First, twin pregnancies *usually* result in a c-section, so this time around I am trying to pack with that in mind. Second, I have to pack enough gear for two babies of course! That being said, I know that I packed WAY too much last time (and I didn’t use a lot of the items), so I am being very mindful of that and trying to pack less. I did use the packing list from my first pregnancy as a jumping off point, but this list is WAY more simple. Hopefully this helps!

WHAT I PACKED IN MY HOSPITAL BAG

  • Hospital bag – I packed my rolling suitcase again (for ease!) With two babies, I think it will be nice to have a rolling bag.
  • Important documents – ID, insurance card, credit card, paperwork, etc. I will probably put everything in my purse.
  • Comfy robe – I grabbed this $30 robe that had great reviews. I also sized up from what I wore last time I’m quite a bit larger this time!
  • Button-front nightgown – Most of the c-section moms recommended a nightgown (instead of a top and pants) so that the waistband doesn’t irritate the incision. I ordered this $20 nightgown in two colors.
  • Comfy PJ set – I also grabbed this PJ set in the rose color. I’m not sure if I will wear if I end up having a c-section or not. I did size up so that the pants would be more high-waisted. I think this color would be pretty for getting some photos with the babies!
  • Going home outfit – I love this lounge set (sweater here and pants here). Dark colors are great for postpartum (think about stains!) and these pants are high-waisted so they will be good for a c-section too.
  • Nursing bras – I’m not sure whether I will breastfeed or not, but these bras are comfortable and stretchy and will be great for the hospital regardless. I wore one of these when I gave birth to Rosie. A pack of 3 is $31.
  • High-waisted underwear – I bought this pack of four when I had Rosie and know they will be perfect if I have a c-section too.
  • Comfy socks – Hospitals are usually cold! It’s nice if the socks have grips on them too.
  • Slippers – I got these Ugg slippers for Christmas, but any old pair will do!
  • Overnight essentials – This varies person to person, but toothbrush, toothpaste, hair products, deodorant, hair ties, makeup, etc.

WHAT TONY PACKED IN HIS BAG

  • Hospital Bag – Tony loves this duffel and it’s a great size for a few nights.
  • Blanket – The couch in the postpartum recovery rooms don’t have much in terms of bedding.
  • Comfy clothes for day and night
  • Nicer outfit for photos – We can’t have extra visitors this time, but he and I may try to get some photos of us still?
  • Overnight essentials

WHAT I PACKED FOR BABY

  • Two car seats – the most important item!
  • Two warm blankets – It will likely still be in the 30s in Minnesota, so I want to bundle them up for when we leave the hospital.
  • Two pacifiers – I didn’t bring any last time and I wish that I would have started Rosie with pacifiers earlier.
  • Four swaddles – I packed two different sets of swaddles for the babies. Two of the swaddle blankets are from Posh Peanut and the other two are from Solly Baby.
  • Two knotted gowns – We loved these for Rosie! I may use these for announcement photos?
  • Two pairs footed pajamas for going home – I got matching pajamas for the twins to go home in. Again in Minnesota, I want them to be warm!
  • Variety of hats and bows – We don’t know the sex of the babies, so I packed an assorted of options!
  • Cute signage, name plates, etc. – I ordered some ‘hello my name is’ stickers to use for their announcement photos.

OTHER MISC. ITEMS

  • Extra long phone cord – there aren’t many outlets in the hospital rooms and they can be far from the beds.
  • Snacks and drinks – our hospital allows food delivery and the cafeteria and restaurants are all open.
  • Thank you gifts for nurses
