On Saturday the Minneapolis Bloggers Union had a flat lay workshop at the Mall of America. Jamie from So Happy You Liked It and Krista from Krista Collective both presented their tips for creating the perfect flat lay. Flat lays are a great way to mix up your Instagram feed and a really nice way to feature a product (brands love a good flat lay!). This is a workshop we have been wanting to do since our inception and we were so excited to bring it to the Minneapolis Bloggers for this month’s event.
Mall of America provided a beautiful backdrop for the event. Their event space had never been seen by the public before and it is gorgeous! Krista showed us how to do flat lay magic in this beautiful space. The bloggers used the rugs, carpet, and props to perfect their flat lays. This space also has gorgeous natural light which really made the photos turn out beautifully.
Cedar and Stone at the JW Marriott (also at Mall of America) hosted an amazing lunch for us in their gorgeous space. We feasted on chicken and waffles, sliders, roasted veggies, smoothies, and more! The food was delicious, but also beautiful. Jamie showed us some tips for a food flat flay. I will definitely use these tips for restaurant photos but also when shooting at home too. Jamie was so innovative! She took the peppercorns out of the pepper grinder to make it a little “messy” (which I loved).
